My favorite recipes stem from things you can make with groceries you already have. So with an active dog well deserving of a treat, I looked around my kitchen and grabbed three items I know are good for her.

Peanut butter is a great source of protein and contains some heart healthy fats, vitamin B, niacin, and vitamin E. Keep in mind of using unsalted when making treats for your pup.

Coconut oil does awesome things for your dogs energy levels. Along with improve skin and coat, it aids in digestion.

Fresh/frozen blueberries of course have the antioxidants and fiber good for both dogs and humans!

Did I mention? These treats are good for you AND your pups!

Remember, if you are sharing with your pup, use unsalted peanut butter.

If you’re not a dog person and love this super snack, use salted peanut butter or any nut butter you prefer!

All you need is

1 cake pan (I used a 9 inch round)

Parchment Paper

2 cups peanut butter

2 cups coconut oil

1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

a small sauce pan

a sealed container

& room in your freezer

Line your pan with the parchment paper OR if you have a silicone mold, those work also and you won’t need the parchment paper (:

Melt the peanut butter just to a liquid and pour in to the baking pan. Set in freezer.

Melt the coconut oil till half is liquid and stir till its all melted. Pour over peanut butter and   place blueberries in top! Set back to freezer for about 20- 30 minutes.

Take the giant treat out, separate from the parchment paper, and brake or cut up to bite size pieces. The treats stay best in a sealed container and stored in the freezer.

I won’t lie to you, the peanut butter is messy. So, you can also melt all of the peanut butter and coconut oil together and pour in to the pan and place in the freezer.

I don’t mind the messy. (:

This inspiration came from several Pinterest posts and there are tons of variations. Share what works for you and ENJOY!
